The FIGHT for The RIGHT!

Lies “about” Obama and His Voter Base!!!

Please see COMMENT # 22 below. This blogger did research and found the email  below to be false. I followed up and saw comment alleged to be from the General disavowing the email and a snopes report now says FALSE and Raddatz denies.

I believe it is false but still do not believe Raddatz. My opinion only!

I can’t vouch for the truthfulness but sounds about right! In any case it is food for thought about the slanted news we all know that we receive on TV and in papers!

ABC News – Suspicions confirmed ! No mention of the 54 for McCain]
Date: Sun, 29 Jun 2008 23:33:00 +0000

Just in case you happened to see the ABC News piece
(if you watch ABC News) with interviews of 5 military folks in Iraq – 3
planned to vote for Obama and 2 for Hillary; no mention of any McCain
supporters.
Well, here’s the ”Rest of the Story.”

This from Major General (ret) Buckman

My niece, Katelyn, stationed at Baluud , Iraq was assigned, with others of her detachment, to be escort/guard/ watcher for Martha Raddatz of ABC News as she covered John McCain’s recent trip to Iraq

Katelyn and her Captain stood directly behind Raddatz as she queried GI’s walking past. They kept count of the GI’s and you should remember these numbers. She asked 60 GI’s who they planned to vote for in November. 54 said John McCain, 4 for Obama and 2 for Hillary

Katelyn called home and told her Mom and Dad to watch ABC news the next night because she was standing directly behind Raddatz and maybe they’d see her on TV. Mom and Dad of course, called and emailed all the kinfolk to watch the newscast and maybe see Katelyn.

Well, of course, we all watched and what we saw wasn’t a glimpse of Katelyn, but got a hell’uva view of skewed news.  After a dissertation on McCain’s trip and speech, ABC showed 5 GI’s being asked by Raddatz how they were going to vote in November; 3 for Obama and 2 for Clinton .. No mention of the 54 for McCain.

If you don’t want to forward this  for fear of offending someone…
YOU’RE PART OF THE PROBLEM !

It is Time for America to Speak up!

  3. So “Katelyn” actually stood there and counted 54 votes. Who would believe this story? It’s nonsense.

  4. RWD,
    The story is confirmed true!

Thanks for putting it out there!

It should come as no surprise to anyone that ABC would slant a report to favor the left. They have been deep in the Democrat pockets forever.

I don’t watch ABC,CBS, or NBC for much of anything because you they can’t be trusted on anything!

What is surprising is that they no longer even pretend that they not biased!

If Congress really wanted to regulate the airways out a need for FAIRNESS, the would start with the standard (ABC, CBS, and NBC) TV.networks.

  5. RWD,
Sorry about the first comment, some how I submitted it before proof reading. Getting old, I guess!

  9. I can’t vouch for the truthfulness…it is food for thought

I saw this anecdote posted somewhere and thought I’d travel to the apparent source for a look-see.

Perhaps I’m reading you wrong, but it appears that you may subscribe to the Dan Rather brand of truth in reporting…you know…”fake but accurate”?

…and you actually believe that, fake or not, this “food for thought” serves to denigrate ABC News and not your own credibility?

However, commenter “Watch Dog” states that this story is “confirmed true!”. Perhaps he’d care to document that with something a bit more substantive than his assertion?

  10. Snopes has this as unverified with a response from the reporter claiming this is not totally accurate.

How exactly has it been confirmed true, do you have a link?

    Thanks

  11. Never heard of Baluud, Iraq…

I’m doubting this story until more concrete proof exists.

  12. I posted this story and quickly got a comment claiming to be from “martha raddatz” calling it a hoax.

No email, no website. I’m betting that response is the hoax.

  13. Media outlets and their reporters should be held accountable for this kind of misrepresentation. Its unreal how the liberal media is trying to win this election for Obama. If I mislead like this in my business, I not only would lose my license to work, I would be prosecuted for fraud.

  17. This came from http://joerepya.typepad.com/eaglesnest/page/3/

“Having been the recent recipient of an attack of “internet vandalism” I did what any respectable blogger would do and verified the story from both sides. Last week I received an e-mail piece from a military friend that is going around on the web attacking Martha Raddatz, the White House Correspondent for ABC. I happen to know her personally, since we met in Baghdad, Iraq in 2005. I immediately contacted her for her version on the e-mail I received. The e-mail in question is listed below:

    {Same as posted above}

The problem with the e-mail is it is not true. Ms. Raddatz was in Iraq at that time, but was traveling with Vice President Dick Cheney not Senator John McCain. She totally refutes speaking to 60 GI’s, and I believe her. I have found Martha to be a staunch supported of our military while she was ABC’s Pentagon Reporter and in her new role at the White House. She asks tough questions but is fair in her dealings with the Administration, unlike CBS or NBC.

It just goes to show you how fast a bogus story can travel thanks to this new media.”

  18. Having spent 22 years in the Navy and participated in every conflict from Vietnam to Desert Storm I can say with utter conviction that in my time in the service I never even meet a military officer that would admit to being a Democrat. We’d hear rumors now and again that there was this helicopter pilot or submariner somewhere that was said to have voiced comments favoring Democrats. Upon examination the rumor persisted but the person was never actually found.

My son who is an active Marine in Iraq said that particular propensity hasn’t changed much. The Democratic Party is still viewed as a party of traitors and has little support from the people in the military.
As for bias in the media, I can also say when I was there and later read the media’s account of what occurred virtually always the facts were misrepresented in a way that supported liberal view. Often the facts were so badly misrepresented to be barely identifiable to what actually occurred. I really don’t think this is a debatable point.

As for this particular incident, it may or may not be true. It rings true to form.

  19. To The Bronze:

1st off, the comment as posted DOES NOT SAY SHE WAS ON A TRIP WITH McCAIN – it says “say was covering a recent trip of McCain”.

Second, I would take the word of a 2nd grader before believing Maartha Raddatz stroy on anything. The name of her world is DISTORTION and in this case for the benefit of the Media Messiah Obama.

I still cannot know for sure if the story is entirely true, SNOPES does not say it is false, they say it is undetermined.

I have asked WATCHDOG for his proof but thus far nothing!

    Thanx for posting

  20. Snopes says it’s false. Buckman says he didn’t write it. Raddatz said it never happened.

  21. Correction, If you read the whole Snopes story. They say without outtakes it is hard to verify how many soldiers were interviewed. But Raddatz said she was on a trip with Cheney not McCain. And she didn’t interview 60 soldiers. She did not talk to “more than a dozen”. So at the time would it not be fair and unbiased to present a soldier out of each group? Instead she showed four for Democratic candidates and one for the republican. So the numbers may be wrong but the intent is the same. To show McCain as the unpopular one. and she justified it by saying it was not meant to be a poll.
